strong glue for internal foam board in deep box frame?

Regarding a previous post wanting econospacers so as to create deep box frame, someone suggested a cheaper alternative was using foam board strips for the inside of a box frame which I liked the idea of. I've recently purchased some foam board and was going to use a super strong double sided tape, but when using tape you pretty much have to get this flush and in place first time around so thought it might be best to use a very strong bond glue so I can at least have a few seconds to position the foamboard around the 4 internal sides of frame. I was debating using gorilla glue only because i've found this pretty sturdy on other things but never applied to wood. Can anyone suggest if there is something more suitable?

When I do mine, I cut the foamcore, stick 2 or 3 bits of double-sided tape (depending on length of foamcore) on to the foamcore, take the paper off the double-sided tape, then dab a couple of blobs of PVA glue along the foamcore strip, the double-sided tape holds the spacer in place until the PVA glue dries.
