Morso blade alignment problems

Hi everyone I’m debbie (newbie to picture framing and really excited to get going) I’ve really enjoyed educating myself reading all your posts and replies now I’m looking for your help too please

I’m failing at my first hurdle - I’ve recently bought a second hand morso guillotine from an artist that had’nt used it for a number of years. I had the blades sharpened as it wasn’t cutting clean but unfortunately I’m still unable to get a good clean cut. I’ve watched YouTube videos on how to replace the blades / how to re-adjust the lower blades etc had a go and thought it would be relatively straightforward - we did get it cutting alittle better (not sure how thou!) but then had to adjust the height of the pedal and ended back at square one :head: the cut seems clean but the outer profile edge is jagged and unacceptable but not sure what to do next.
Is there anyone you could recommend that service morso’s and maybe re-align if that’s what’s needed? We live in Doncaster South Yorkshire.
Many thanks in advance debbie x

Have you made sure that the blades meet well at the front? There should be no overlap between the blades. It can take some time to get this right.
It may be this particular moulding that you're using.
Try putting a piece of mountboard between the moulding and the fences so that the last cut is through the mountboard as well. This sometimes helps.
Are you cutting the moulding in plenty of cuts, the last one being a slither? Or are you trying to cut it in too few cuts?
It's frustrating but it's best if you can work through it and correct it yourself. It will really help in the future, when you understand the problems and solutions!
Good luck!

Where did you get the blades sharpened?

Does it do the same on all mouldings?

:D

Also, ensure that the point of the blades projects between the two fences.

Brighouse isn't a million miles from Donny, you should contact Mark Thornton. I used to live in Wakey :D

you were right - blades needed sharpening again and fixing on better than I was attempting. Morso has been checked and adjusted and we are now ready to go :D
Thankyou for replies much appreciated debbie
