Hello,

I am struggling to float mount some prints in large frames that I got for free.

I need to buy white card cut to size 840 x 640 mm that I can directly hinge my prints onto. The card will be visible around the boarders. I don't want to use an over mount, I'm not a fan of the look.

I can't find anywhere online where I can buy A0 size card or anywhere that can cut card to the size I need. No one does anything big enough!

Does anyone have an recommendations where I can purchase online?

That shouldn't be too hard to source, the size you mention is smaller than most standard sheets of mount board so any local framer should be able to sort you out.

I'm sure it's available online but the postage costs would probably kill it.

The size you ask for is half of the normal smallest sheet bought by framers
As Steven suggests ask your local framer
You may get the cold shoulder, as the framer will see it as taking work he/she would like to do.
Bit like going into a restaurant and asking the chef to sell you a piece of meat he hasn't yet cooked
So best to give the impression you will be coming back for more framing jobs, but this one is a fun project you want to DIY
There maybe other items he can help you with, tapes, backing board etc.
Just hope the framer you go to doesn't read this post

The Daler-Rodney Studland mountboard is available in A0 and can be obtained online in a number of places. Postage may be an issues as mentioned before.

Maybe you meant to write A!
A0 is 841 x 1189mm ( 33 x 46 inches).
I cant imagine the post office handling such a huge size, but maybe their parcel service does. What condition might it arrive in?

But Sophie wrote she wanted 840 x 640 which is a tad over A1 (594 x 841mm)
For speed and convenience I still believe asking a framer is much easier, than buying 1 sheet online
And chances are she might become friendly with the framer and see how he/she can help her with other projects.

Nobody has asked so far about what quantities of this size board is required, or whether the boards are required to be conservation quality, or it even a cheao not conservation board would be acceptable. If the quatities needed are sufficient, it might be worth considering buying a quantity of boards from one of the framing suppliers.

Or if a cheaper type of board would be adequate for this use, colourmount produce a mountboard called "Optimat" which I used to use for mounting items that I used sell through local auction sales, before I had my own shop. These items where mostly bankrupt stock prints and art cards that I had picked up cheap and this was an important source of much needed income for my wife and I for a number of years.

Optimat is a cheap cream core neutral pH mountboard which comes in 20 sheet packs. The mountboard thickness is only 1.25mm and the sheet size is 40 inches by 32 inches.

Wholesalers will sell single sheets, but mainly as a part of a larger order. They aren't going to relish selling and delivering one sheet
by carrier. And the chances of it arriving undamaged are.... slim. Best way (as previously suggested) is to cultivate a local framer.

I was not suggesting buying one sheet, bur if the job justifies buying a 20 sheet pack at about £30 to £35, then this might be a sensible option.

It's not half a normal sheet (120x81.5 cm) if Sophie was local to me I would have no problem selling it to her, but you are looking at Parcel Force or couriers, for delivery, plus the packaging would have to be overkill, like everyone keeps saying 'Shop Local ' use independent businesses

It might not be long, before shops are going to be opening again and might be worth waiting a couple of weeks, to see who is local and can help you out.

Life does not always work like that, especially with today's technology. I have relied to people's PM's and they never left my outbox even after months. Sometimes that's the way it goes and we never know why!

For once I agree with Keith , basic manners, fed up with it and to quote Keith "This behaviour really Pi**es me off. " you go out of your way to answer / offer advice and the OP either never comes back on or never say's a simple "Thank you"

To date Sophie has only posted the once and has not been active on the forum since then. I guessing that She has not even logged in a has no idea that there is message waiting for her. There not really much that we can do about that unfortunately. We don't even know if Sophie even realises that there is a private message system on the forum, so it is quite possible that she does not realise that she can log on and check for messages.
