I have just bought some jigsaw glue from a craft shop. It looks suspicously like plain old white PVA.
Would PVA serve the same purpose?
Have I been ripped off?

I would suspect that the glue from the craft shop is a non toxic version because it may be used in schools or by children (please do not equate Non Toxic with Acid Free or Acid Neutral) ……the PVA you buy in a DIY store may be more toxic………now with a science background I should be able to give you a logical reason for the difference…..but I cannot without doing some further research…..if you go to the Henkel UK site
http://www.henkel.co.uk/int_henkel/gateway_uk/index.cfm you should get the information or you can contact them and they will send you the safety sheet for their products they are a very helpful company.
I was involved with a business many years ago who produced craft materials and PVA was a difficult one to produce in a non toxic version.
