Hi

My name is Darren and I'm from the Isle of Man.

After 26 years of staring at spreadsheets and listening to corporate waffle, (plus a redundancy), I've decided to follow a dream I've had for many years, and try to become a framer. It's clear from the posts I've read already that it's not going to be easy, but I'm up for the challenge, and badly want to be my own boss.

My first question to the forum will be about training courses, but I'll post that separately under the Help section.

Hi Darren,

That's quite a big change of direction and I'm guessing that you are going to need to work out how you will get your supplies delivered to the isle of Man. I'm guessing that glass supplies will be the most difficult issue. All other supplies should be fairly easy to get sent by a normal delivery courier, direct from your suppliers. There's a lot of brains and experience available on this forum and plenty of members who will do their best to answer your questions.

Hi Darren,
Welcome to the forum.
Like you, I needed a career change a few years ago.
It was a massive leap of faith and a very steep learning curve at times, but I love it!
You're spot on, that good training is really important.
I started my training with Jan at Framers Equipment in Northampton.
It was a great way to get a taste for it and pick up some equipment and sundries while I was there.
