Do NOT do it on your Morso. A very good way to ruin the blades.

We get all ours from a Alumaframe. Although there are many other suppliers.

Buy a £5000 double mitre saw or buy them in ready cut.

nice signature RobbieZ - you can change it to one of your own choosing in the "profile" section at the top of the page, while you are in there it might be wise to add in a few details about yourself!

If you really wanted to do it yourself, you can get a very fine pitch blades for cutting non-ferrous metals which fits the Nobex proman 110.

I doubt if it would be as good as buying it ready chopped to size, which is likely to be more accurate and also a lot less hassle.

after trashing yet anoher set of morso blades on that aluminium covered wood stuff last week, im looking into using a chop service for metals for the first time in 15 years.

Just curious, but as its now the bank holiday weekend, and no suppliers open till tuesday to ask - what is the usual routine? do the suppliers provide the chevrons, are there other types than the corner l-shape brackets? how do you deal the backs etc.

when you pop in next week, I can show you..

Very quickly for others though... We use Alumaframe for all our chop metal mouldings.

They gave us the chevrons together with a choice of display stands.

When ordering from them, do not forget to order the corner hardware as well..

The backs. mmmm. We just use Art-Bak and the spring clips, although I have seen the backs fully taped up on some metal frames.

Hi John,

Would you have any contact details for Alumaframe. I was going to go with Nielsens, but their last rep always refused to let us get any samples of anything, so we never got into aluminium frames.

I even tried to get some samples direct from Nielsen, but was told that I had to contact the rep. I was perfectly happy to pay for the samples, but still could not get any. I eventually got fed up with trying.

Or, as a starter, you buy a "Schleicher".

I use both Alumaframe and Nielsen - Nielsen have a bigger choice and seem to hold better stock levels. They both offer an excellent service. Ive never had any problems getting samples from Nielsen.

LOL!!! the price list I have got is the 2000 one. I keep asking them if they have a new one yet but they are still using the 2000 list.
Who else do you know who still have the same prices for the last 8 years!

Rose and Hollis must run them a very close second!

Years ago Nielsens ran an offer of a free aluminium saw. Still use it today for some of the more common profiles: 4, 11,15 sections and get the rest chop. Must have paid for itself hundreds of times over.

Ideal to alter aluminium sections.

I gave up on aluminium wood years ago; blunts the morso-blades and dents far too easily.
