Barrier board/undermount

Post by Mary Case GCF »

What does everyone use as an undermount? At present I am using Daler 2984 Barrier board, but sometimes find it too thick for the rebate. Thinking about looking for something else, but not sure what. Maybe Bainbridge Alphamount in 4 ply. Whatdyathink?

Alphamat is cheaper than alphamount.

For normal stuff I use 3 or 5mm artcare foamboard as a combined undermount/frame back.

For normal jobs I use mountboard scraps or some of my old left over Tru-vue and Daler mountboards, as I no longer use these.

Conservation Jobs are mainly Artcare foamboard, but sometimes Artcare mountboard instead.

I try to manage my waste by using it.

Artbak conservation has a barrier sheet, so on rebate space restricted items I trust it to do its job - otherwise its an offcut of colourmount conservation mount.

Yep. :D Dropouts, offcuts and redundant colours. Been using up a load of Alphamat that is a weird colour I got for a job and then changed my mind.
For super-duper jobs 8ply rag from whoever is convienient at the time.
SH do a 2 ply barrier board, but it is no good for hinging onto.

Thanks for that. Stupidly thought it had to be a barrier board or is that just what the FATG wanted me to think :? I've got plenty of scrap conservation board from other companies that I don't know what to do with, now that I am going exclusively over to Alphamat. I'll get right on to saving money tomorrow :)
