Vacuum Press

Post by wbo »

Does anybody in, or near the Scottish Borders have a vacuum press that removes fold marks in posters.
Thanks

Fold marks are a tricky discussion topic. It all depends on ...

Paper has a memory and as such has to be modified in some manner. Humidification of the paper is the first step. The paper then has to be "reformed" flattened at the crease with the moisture removed. In a vacuum press situation, if the paper is not flat prior to processing, the creases can be made worse.

Another factor is that when the paint/ink layer is cracked - split - broken - scratched off, there is little chance of it being repaired without retouching with paints. In many cases this is the realm of a paper conservator.
