Frame identification

Post by Bertie »

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. I have been tasked with making a frame in the same style as the attached photos. I'm wondering whether this is an off the shelf moulding as the finish looks quite uniform, or whether it has been done by hand.

Any thoughts on the moulding and/or finish most appreicated!

That looks like a Mexican ready-made frame from the 70-80's.

D&J Simons used to do that profile in those colours it was 9000/0032 from memory, but I think it was discontinued more than 10 years ago. Your example looks better quality - has it got closed corners? That would tell you if it is hand finished or not.

If you are going to hand finish it, I think Rose and Hollis do that profile (or very similar) in Obeche

Thanks for your comments everyone.
D&J Simmons don't recognise it, and neither do Rose and Hollis stock anything that wide.

The search continues....
