Soft wood splitting on Morso F

Hi, I’m planning to make box frames from Redwood Pine (planed from a local sawmill ) and somehow the edges are really frazzled. Is it better to get a manual mitre saw for this type of wood? Is it maybe too soft for the Morso?

Try slipping a sacrificial strip of MDF between the fences and the moulding. This will prevent break-out in some cases.

* It might throw the measuring scale off-kilter so compensate if necessary.

I'm assuming that you're talking about properly seasoned wood and not green wood?

Are your blades sharpened properly?
Does other moulding cut okay?
Some moulding is just so soft that the back catches and in those instances I will either use a scrap piece of backing board in behind, or keep cutting until I get to a better piece of wood.
