Sorry folks, this seems like an embarrassingly daft question, but can any of you help?

Putting together a new Ultimate Futura, I understand that the T-Bar slides into the Slideway and fits together via the bar connected to the underside of the former.

This works fine when both components are loose. However, when the Slideway is fitted into the base slot of the main unit, I just cannot get it to level up to receive the bar - even when fully loosening the wing nut on the T-Bar to lower the bar.

Its seems that the Slideway sits too low in the base slot and is therefore not flush.

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong??

Sure, it's not the best picture but hopefully indicates a little of what the issue is.

So, the wing nut in the picture is supposed to be loosened, and the connecting "bar" drops, and then slides into the channel of the Slideway. In spite of this, I cannot get them to align, as it seems the Slideway is still lower than the T-Bar when put into the base slot of the main unit.

The top T bar needs to slide into the channel on the measuring bar so it sits flush.

Then, it looks from your picture that your measuring bar might not be fully seated into the machine. See pictures of mine.

Thanks for the pictures (and they're a lot better than the ones I could muster).

I am trying to do this same thing - and I have put the Slideway into the slot as shown in Jeremy's pictures - but then the Slideway seems too low to receive the t-bar.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong. I'll be back at the studio again tomorrow and will have another look, but at least this confirms what I'm supposed to be doing.
