Hello All,

I'm new here, and new to the world of framing. My mum and dad ran a framing business for many years, however, dad has sadly passed away and mum is now in a care home with dementia.

I have been left the task of listing and selling all the items from the shop for sale and am looking for advice. I have no idea of the used value of the items, whether is is best to list them in lots of places or sell them as a job lot and am looking for some advice (I'm not even sure I know what all the framing equipment is or what it is called! )

So far I have found :

Morso Mitring Machine _F
Simplex Plus Mat cutter - Model 750
Keen Ulitamt Gold - cutting machine
A few Fletchers Mulitmaster point drivers

There is possibly a logan oval mount cutter (I've not found it but I've found the manual

On top of this there is some glass and a fair amount of frame wood.

Oh and stands you can look at art in (hung to the wall, and stands that stand up - that your browse pictures in).


Is it best to sell individually, as a job lot? My parents did by good equipment and would have looked after it. Any advice or pointers - gratefully received.

Have a look through the adverts / sales / wants section of the forum.
If you have time and are happy to sort through everything, take individual photographs, research equipment etc, you will get more money.
If you want a quick sale put it on as a job lot and drop the price on the condition the person takes the lot and that will be much quicker.
People on here will be happy to help you with values and information.

Honestly the best way to see what things are selling for is to search on eBay and tick the sold items search box, then you can see exactly how much people are paying. Imo job lots are a hard sell taking more time, but a lot less work involved for you and less money in the end I suspect. We could probably all guesstimate at prices, but I think eBay is your best bet. I would certainly post them here, eBay and facebook marketplace. eBay charges commission, so your FF/FB marketplace prices can reflect that. I recently snapped something up from facebook when I saw how much cheaper it was compared to their eBay listing price. As already said, pictures are really important to see what accessories are included and the condition.

Is there a market for unused mount board?

There's bound to be a few framers in your local area. They might take whole packs off your hands, but mixed loose sheets I'm not sure it's worth it for anybody. We all want virgin unscuffed unmarked pristine materials in this game! There's a framers at the art shop in Sidmouth I spotted on my last trip there and there's JO and Alec and The Framing Lot in Dawlish. They might take some sundries and materials off your hands. Even glass can be tricky. I once took a load of float glass sheets from a retiring framer, only to find that because they had been stacked without anything between them that they had marked each other and had to be binned, by me...

Not sure how you're getting on but Wessex Pictures have a decent second hand section so would be make you offers on the workshop equipment such as the Morso and mountcutter etc.
