Help identifying moulding!

Hello Framers Forum!

I've been lurking on this forum for about a year now but this is my first time posting! In need of help identifying the moulding in the attached pics, does anyone recognise it?

I don't have the dimensions but must be fairly chunky as the customer said that the canvas that it is framing is 38mm deep, she did also say she got this framed years ago so could well be discontinued, in which case does anyone know of anything similar? She wants to frame a second larger canvas in as similar way as possible (if not the same!)

Many thanks for your help,
Josh

Josh,
Welcome with your first posting.

As a bit of advise you might want to give a more descriptive inquire with your request. Such as, is this a hard wood framer with a hand painted marbleized finish or whatever. Yes, you have to ask these questions of your customer.
From what I can see, this might be a bespoke hand painted finish and not a stock prefinished moulding.

Hi josh , I recognise this frame it is indeed an old one , I think it may have been from frinton , certainly from a supplier that's now gone , Wessex took up some of their frames may be worth starting there

Hey JFeig, thanks I went back to customer and she says she believes it was an off the shelf, pre-finished stock moulding, not hand finished… I think this frame is going back 8 or 9 years! Have heard from a couple of sources now this is an old Frintons frame, now I need to try and find something similar!

Hey Sisters,

Thanks for this, another framer I asked with a lot of knowledge of Uk mouldings over the last couple of decades also said Frintons. I’ll give Wessex a call and see if they just might happen to have some left over, though I did look through a section of their website where they are still selling off old Frinton stock and couldn’t see it there. Have you come across any similar mouldings recently from any other supplier? Just want a good backup option to offer the customer!

Best
Josh
