FRAMR glass pricing

New to pricing software and I've been checking a few prices against Framr and it makes it look like I'm undercharging but, looking at the price breakdown, it has 24001 (Artglass 92) in at a cost of £140.44 per sqm. I buy it by the 1220 x 914 sheet and I'm not the greatest at maths but I know I'm not paying that much, so FRAMR is overestimating my material cost...

What do you all do in this case, do you put the real price into Framr somehow, or do you charge something more like the suggested price, and not factor in the material discount?

140.44/ sq m = 156/lite.
Can't you modify the cost in your copy of the software?

Probably if I dig into it, I guess I can, but my question really is, should I? Or would folk tend to charge based on the list price of materials, and enjoy the extra profit one would get from having negotiated a discount with the supplier?

Nothing wrong with a smaller COGS figure. Just be cautious of your competition prices.

We always price based on list price. That way if you do have discounts set up for customers - say trade customers - then you are softening the blow to your bottom line.

However, if you do want to include any discount you get from a supplier into the prices you quote customers then it is easy to do that in FrameR.

Click on the three dots top rhs.
Click on Stock.
Click on Suppliers.
Choose the supplier from the list.
There will be a list pop up which shows what you get from them - a list of tick boxes. Next to each is a discount box. Pop in the discount value % that you want to include in there.

As an additional thing - you can set up a minus % cost if you want to INCREASE the cost of supplies from certain suppliers. Useful if you want to cover things like carriage where you know it will always be charged. That allows you to specifically overprice things from that one supplier to cover that.

I would take the convenience of FrameR over some of the other softwares available any day. It is entirely up to you how much markup and wastage you charge for materials. Take the oft quoted adage that if your acceptance rate is over 80% then you're not charging enough. Charge what the market can bear. On a previous software I meticulously set glass prices to have a steady increase for more and more expensive products, giving the customer easily swallowable price point choices. FrameR has its own preset ideas about markups and I have to admit that rather than spend days pondering it all and having multiple melt downs, I decided to suck it and see. Obviously there are many tweaks (e.g. wastage %) and additions that I have made (for processes like float mounting and extra materials), but on the whole I believe that these software advances should be saving us time and increasing our profit level. "Don't sweat the small stuff".
