Customer says he *had* a frame with a carved celtic knot motif - possibly in a natural oak.

This was some time ago.

He'd like something similar.

Anyone know of such a moulding?

Good luck with trying to get a one-off purchase from any of those guys.

If the carving is in a raised profile, then you could simply take a pressed cast of the motif and reproduce it with some DAS compound. They currently do a 'wood' compound.
Then just stick it on to an appropriate oak moulding and stain it to match.

I had a similar enquiry a couple of years ago. After much investigation I discovered that the frame she had seen was a mass produced photo frame.

I did actually find a solution by using my laser cutter to etch a Celtic knot pattern in MDF, which I then ‘inlaid’ into a wooden frame, and then painted and waxed it.

Sadly I don’t think I remembered to photograph the finished thing, but attached is a photo of the proof of concept. This is lasered MDF that I painted and waxed.

Thanks all for responses.

I think I can confidently tell my customer that there's no off the shelf solution.

Have a look at Decwood, or something like this

But yeah no off the shelf that I know od. You'll be sticking a decal on to a flat moulding.
