Hi
I mentioned this on an earlier topic, well the job is done barr the glazing I built a box to house the
tapestry lined it out with smooth red velvet, laced the tapestry to a foamcore baord and its held in place by velcro which i stitched on the back, The dimensions of the box are 37"x24"x4"deep I've made a frame
to fit over the box, Because of the size & depth of the box & frame I'm not happy about using 2mm float glass Would it be safe? or should play safe & use styrene or perspex.
Any advice welcome.

I think half a (36x48") sheet of glass would be fine. Depends where it's hanging though, all that space behind it could be a concern and if it is one and/or you'd just feel happier with acrylic, go for it. The 3mm scratchproof stuff is great - not cheap though, the normal stuff scratches too easy.

Was this to be hung in a public place? If so, definitely use acrylic.
