Flexible Fillips

I attended a fabric wrapping class nearly two years ago in The States, haven't done anything about it yet mind!

Flexible fabric fillips were demo'd/ taught. They are basically silicone cord wrapped in fabric to leave a flange that has ATG tape burnished on to it - just remove the release paper and off to go.

The advantage of them is that they can be put around ovals, arches, etc, unlike wooden fillips. You just snip the flange up to the cord so that it, as well as the cord it wraps, can follow a contour.

Anyway I spotted this page in a sample catalogue Mrs R was browsing today, cord, FLANGED cord, braid, tasssles blah blah.

Nicked a bit of the flanged stuff I had no idea we had in stock and tried it out. Not ideal on a right angle but you get the idea.

Seriously, that looks very interesting, just the thing for embellishing an oval or circle maybe . . . . wanders off towards the studio looking thoughtful.

Here's one I did a couple years ago shortly after Frank's introduced the flexible fabric fillet. The flexible fillet (er..slip) is the dark bit between the two mounts.

The color of the fabric did not come through very well at all in the picture; it's actually a spot-on match for the dark sepia tones in the photo.
