Hi there,
I’m new to the group so not sure if this is the right place for my message. I’d really appreciate some advice!
I have a few pieces of art that’s I’ve been in the process of framing and the frames I kind of imagine are not ones I’ve been able to find online and having spoken with some local framers they’re not able to assist.
I think I might need a wood worker and I just have no idea where to look or find someone who could help.
I’m trying to get a frame made that looks like this
Any advice of places or people I might be able to seek out would be really wonderful. Am location in Brisbane, Australia but happy to go far and wide
Thank you so much

Re: Brisbane - Advice
This forum is mostly UK based framers so I think you might struggle.
My suggestion would have been to ask a local picture framer but if you've done that you might have to try a wider pool, such as traditional wood workers or cabinet makers etc.
You would need to be prepared to pay for it though, there is a lot of wood there. Each sticky out piece is 5 pieces of wood, either 3 or 5 stuck together, or 1 piece carved, and there are 22 of them around the outside, all cut to size, plus a normal frame in the middle.

Thank you so much. I hadn’t realised it was mostly in the uk! Will try and see what I can find with woodworkers!

Frames like that are factory made in relatively small batches and everything would have to be jigged up
for the run to make it economically viable. Making odd ones is possible but it going to be very expensive.
It's like asking somebody to make an '80s model car from scratch.
People do it but it's a labour of love.

If you put that image into Google Lens, you'll see that it's available from a website for S$249 (it is exactly the same image) or Alibaba claim to stock it too.
