Best Mount cutter for bulk. All machines deteriorate!!

Hi everyone!

Question up front then details - Am I best getting a wall mounted sheet cutter for cutting in bulk? Or invest in one of the cutters that is around £2K that has an arm support etc. I am not cutting the windows with the machine so only need a 90 degree blade really.

---------------------------

I have been in the business for decades and have yet to find a mount cutter that doesn't deteriorate within a couple years. I cut hundreds of mounts every week and find that either the arm goes away from true this is due to the actual chip board wearing away (adjustment screws don't have anything to grip to) or the rollers in the actual blade head grinding and becoming stiff (even with silicone spray it eventually becomes unusable).

I recently purchased a CMC which is great for cutting the windows but isn't as effective/ efficient as I am when it comes to doing bulk backing board and squares etc. I cut tonnes of the exact same mount each day as I sell standardised stuff in my shop and cutting the backs/squares by hand saves on waste
and is way quicker.

I currently have a Logan 650-1 that is on its last legs after a year-ish and that cost me near to a grand if I remember correctly. Do I just invest in a pricier one or get a wall mounted sheet cutter?

Thanks for reading this far

I have a Keencut Futura mount cutter and Keencut Excalibur 5000 and would never consider cutting the 'squares' on the mount cutter only the windows. The Excalibur cuts more accurately and more easily, it's much more industrial and I would judge more durable

I used to have one of these hand operated machines that had about a 23-24 inch wide bed.

Which CMC did you get?

We happily use ours to cut undermounts and backing boards. On the Gunnar we can nest shapes for efficiency and have edge to edge cutting, so minimal waste. Quick and easy.

We use a Valiani Maximus with vacuum bed, cuts the mount aperture, then put backing on top and cuts through the lot for the external cut no problem, we can easily cut 500 mounts and backs in a day.
Has no problem cutting the backing board either (tawny board from Centrado).
