Cassese CS1 driving pin too far

Post by toothy »

Hi there, I recently picked up a manual Cassese CS1 underpinner in good condition.

All seems great, however I feel like the v-nails drive a little too far into the wood. Both soft and harder woods. This may simply be a quirk of this model, however I find it a little odd. I can't see anything obvious wrong with the mechanics. It just looks like the wedge driver protrudes quite far out when the pedal is fully down. But it also looks like it's designed to do that...

Does anyone know if this is simply normal for the machine and is it nothing to worry about or is there something wrong?

Images attached, many thank for any advice!
