A Copuple of Morso Questions

Hi All,

Could I ask about a couple of relatively small Morso-related issues, as the attached photos?

1. The front edge-end of one of my blades got slightly mangled when catching the lower blades (I was replacing the blades at the time and mustn't have tightened them well enough). This small defect will of course effect the integrity of the cuts, so was hoping I could get that edge slightly ground when sending them off to be sharpened. But I'm also equally concerned that grinding that edge would unbalance the blades slightly, since that's where the two meet.

Is this a genuine concern? I really don't want to have to fork out another £250 for a whole new set because of this relatively small defect.

2. What do you use when the height of the moulding far exceeds the max. height of the rabbet holders?

thanks

Send them for sharpening with a note saying don’t bother if that cannot be rectified - and if that’s the case it’s just unlucky!

You could line your fences with board so that point doesn’t actually pass through the moulding for the last cut or two, that will affect your measurements so you’ll have to compensate.

Buy some deep rebate supports, that moulding can be cut upside down though, just be careful sliding it along.

If you’re not VAT registered a new set of Morso blades will set you back more like £325

I have made rebate extenders with spacer moulding the same width as the supports and even with moulding when necessary works well for me,
