painted canvas is too big for frame, what to do

Hi there,
I created a painting on self-stretched oil primed thick linen canvas, and it so happens that the finished work will not fit into the frame I have for it. The frame space for the canvas is exactly 12-1/8 x 24-1/8. But the canvas is 12-1/8" high. Will not fit. I tried redoing the corners... did not work.
It appears my choices are:
1. remove the canvas off the stretchers, and attach it to a precut archival foam core. Attach it by mounting with spray glue? Or with double sided tape? I don't trust the double sided tape idea though. I often glue primed canvas to 1/4" birch plywood before I paint on it. I have never glued an already painted canvas to board.
2. special order a frame that is 12-3/16 x 24-3/16, which will cost me over $100. But if I can get a frame cut that way, it will be done and the canvas won't be removed from stretcher bars.
