Swiss Tattoo

Post by Bill Henry »

Some friends of ours from Devon attended a military tattoo at a place called Parkwood. From what they said, these guys are all unpaid volunteers and not associated with the Swiss military.

When I was a kid we used to go to Drum and Bugle competitions just to watch the participants faint in the summer heat. But, I’ve never seen Drummers like this.

That is impressive Bill I'd be on my feet clapping and whistling.

But this sort of stuff gives me an urge to fix bayonets and run, screaming, in an Easterly direction!

thats the mawines innit? They had the same effect on the Argies, Robo ;)

Remember Cozy Powell "dance with the devil?". Uncannily sounded like the first video ......

ps. isn't it grim being old enough to remember the term "Argie"....

Yep - the Royal Marines - don't care what anyone says, best military band in the world - and the link is just the drums section.

I'd say it's more grim being old enough to remember Cozy Powell's 'Dance with the devil' than the term Argies though!

Buddy Rich?
One of the great name spoonerisms - Ruddy bitch

Other favourites of mine include -

Bob Monkhouse - becomes a mafia dormitory

Jill Dando turns into Jan... i don't think i ought to type the surname

BBC nature presenter Brett Westwood...

And the less said about footballer Kenny Lunt, the better...

Conributions to my spoonerism archive are most welcome
