cassese underpinner air escaping

Hello again People
Its been a while I know but please can you help!

I finally set up in a workshop. I purchased the essential Morso for the ultimate mitre, broken hundreds of square feet of glass, stopped making silly mistakes with the mount-board cutter and callibrated my under-pinner. I was ready to start production in earnest of a hundred art-prints I bought.
Then the bloody under-pinner packed up yesterday, within 3 frames. I put my foot on the peddle and the air just came out, and out and out. The air escapes from under the shuttle return valve inside the casing. I have manually pressed the valve back into its desired position this stops the air escaping, but the poxy thing will not return itself. V-nails will protrude but will not even scratch the moulding.
Is it a lubrication issue? Maybe I missed a spot?
Has anybody had something similar occur that they might have a sollution or ideas on this please?
Blimey I forgot to say its a Cassese 810. Old I know but it looks so simple to maintain...or so I thought whilst sitting in a wet-bed...

Anyhows gang, thanks for looking.
Peace and Respect

Hi
All pneumatic tools need to be lubricated to stop the seals drying out and leaking. If you dont have an inline oiler, put a couple of drops of air tool oil in the air inlet to your underpinner each time you use it, this applys to all air tools.

Air tool oil swells the seals and stops them leaking. Do not use any other type of oil or you may destroy the seals completely. You should also not use any other oils on pistons etc. as they are lubricated from the air intake.

Thanks for the advice Mick
Plonker here has been using WD, and no more oiling the piston...

The CS810 is a venerable underpinner, but as most at least 20 years old, Cassese offer only minimal parts support, and the parts are getting pricey.

On of the the UK's experts on these is Mark Thornton, who lives your way. Call him on 07980 303 715. He services and fixes framing equipment for a living, so don't expect him to do it for free, but I'm sure you can come to some arrangement with him.

The big valve block is the brains of the machine and is now very expensive, so treat it with great respect. The advice about only using the correct air tool oil is spot on.

Martin - Thanks for the recomendation

Beatifulbanjo,
The fault on your Cs810 is very common and is down to two key components failing which are still available to purchase as i have them amongst my car stock, one is very cheap to buy the other as Martin has already said is not so cheap but without either the underpinner is unusable.
Give me a call (07980 303715) i'm based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire and i will give you a quote for a service visit.

Hi all
It must have been a secret scud that killed my machine...
I think I shall have to hang on until the New Year and make a fist of it again.
Thanks for your support all
