Greasy new Morso!

Hi All,
I've recently picked up the brand new Morso I'm going to be using in my new business.

However, there does seem to be an inordinate amount of (admittedly clean) grease around the thing - especially the blades. I've noticed a couple of posts by Prospero that mention this issue (nearly taking off his finger removing it!).
Well, I've no desire to lose
another finger

- long story and nothing to do with a Morso! - and was wondering how impoprtant it is to remove some or all of it from the blades, and whether I should use some sort of solvent for the purpose. Any suggestions welcomed as ever.
Thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian
Well done on your purchase….
You are best to remove as much of the grease as you can, for fear you will transfer some of it on to moulding or mount-mats at some stage….
White spirits should be fine……or something similar to clean the machine…
You could also remove and replace the blades for cleaning purposes which you will have to do as some stage for sharpening ……..good practice run…

Definitely need to get all the grease of the blades for the reasons mentioned. Take some scraps of white mount board and cut them on the morso then inspect them for grease once they are coming out clean you can be reasonably sure you have cleaned OK. Personally I would not clean with white spirit as I feel any remaining grease helps to protect the machine.

Yes you've got to remove all the grease by removing the blades and wiping down with white spirit or something similar, don't leave any grease on the blades as over time moulding chips will stick to it.
Watch your fingers as the blades are bloomin sharp, i usually get a cut or two when i'm installing them.
