Shakespeare was a man of wit.
And on his shirt he had some jam.

As he was walking bt St.Pauls,
A woman grabbed him by the arm.

She said, "You look a man of pluck".
Come upstairs and have a cup of tea and a ham sandwich.

"It may cost you a tanner or a bob,
It all depends on the size of your portfolio"

Sorry, culture night was last night....

Mary had a little lamb.
She also had a duck.
She put them on the windowsill
To see if they would fall off.

Cry Havoc! And let slip the dogs of war!

None shall escape their bloody fangs!

My favourite limerick:

There was a young man from Dundee
That got stung in the leg by a wasp.
When asked, "Did it hurt?"
He said, "Not at all!
It can do it again if it likes."

The heffalump is a funny bird.
It leaps from bough to bough.
It makes it's nest in a rhubarb tree.
And whistles like a cow.

I thought I saw an heffalump,
Descending from a bus.
I looked closer and saw it was,
A happypottamus.

There was an old farmer named Burke.
Who pulled up his cart with a jerk.
His load of manure,
Was most insecure.
Now he's up to his neck in his work.

Written for shorter children, but I think you'd love it. I was given a copy when I was very, very small (about 4). The title fascinated me, but the text was a little tricky for my reading skills at the time. I can remember doing all sorts of "creative" things with pens and crayons to the simple, but wonderful, illustrations in the book. A few years later, my reading skills were up to the necessary level. I mentally flagellated myself for my earlier desecration of the pictures in my original copy of such a marvellously imaginative work.

Aaah - you've reminded me of some books I used to read to my daughter - may start a thread in after hours.

Bit of a sideways reference to a Bowie track, Ian. :)

The book can also be enjoyed by taller children (grown-ups!). ;)

Áine. I hear one of your kitty cats is a bit tom and dick. :( She has my symapthy as I have had the same thing now and again. :? Last time a doc in A&E suggested I increase my beer intake. (Honestly. - He was Austrailian though.... :P).
Barley Water is good for flushing out the system. Works on rabbits anyway. :)

Thanks, Prospero. Will pass on fusses. :) Pleased to report that the Noodle is doing much better now.

I lost one puss to FLUTD, and nearly lost another one, so I'm even more paranoid than normal when it comes to my little ones' urinary health. Good idea about the barley water, but there's nowhere in town that stocks it. Had to go to a pub to get some tomato juice!

I can't get over how quiet things are on here lately. Is it because:-

a. Everyone's incredibly busy?

b. Everyone's incredibly depressed?

c. Everyone's on holliers?

d. Everyone's down the pub?

e. None of the above.

Moglet, a quick query on the database reveals that in the 86400 seconds (24 hours) prior to your post there were 44 posts on the forum. (Not a record, but well above average.)

Did you miss them? :)
