The Barclay's email claims to be 'Important notification about your account'. The user is requested to follow a link to confirm their data, due to an update of the bank's software. The link opens a fake (ghost) web site with a form for the user to enter their personal details, including user id and password, account information and address information. It even warns the user to beware of fraud! When the user submits the form, these personal details are emailed to the fraudsters and the user is redirected to the real Barclays Bank web site.

Barclays Bank PLC. always looks forward for the high security of our clients. Some customers have been receiving an email claiming to be from Barclays advising them to follow a link to what appear to be a Barclays web site, where they are prompted to enter their personal Online Banking details. Barclays is in no way involved with this email and the web site does not belong to us...
Do not reply to the email, or follow the link that it contains - just delete it.
