Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything that can be put onto windows to stop uv damage/fading occuring to items displayed in it

I have pull-down blinds on my front display windows. You can't see though them, but the windows face west so they get very powerful sun in the late afternoon/evening so no choice really. At the time I bought them I priced up some transparent UV-blocking ones and they were hideously expensive. Near a grand for two 6ft square windows. They may be cheaper now...... They may be dearer.

As for stick-on film, I have some in the upstairs studio windows and it works quite well. It darkens the glass somewhat but without it I would have a permanent squint. Only problem is, you can't see in from outside, so not much use for display windows. There may be different sorts, but that's my xp on the subject. And there is a definate knack to applying it perfectly.

I don’t use them, so I cannot speak with any authority, but I’ve heard that the UV filtering component of the film loses its effectiveness within a year or two.

You could consider UV glass……….

Thankyou Very much, I found the stuff was a lot cheaper than I thought it would be, can't wait for it to arrive

Remember UV filters don't prevent fading from visible light.

I love what he does with light. That's one of the reasons he's one of my favourite directors!
