I don't think there is any one book that covers absolutely everything, but you could do worse than Pete Bingham's "Picture Framing: A Practical Guide to all Aspects of the Craft". (Pub. Merehurst). Lots of pics and the guy talks sense.
Grab one here

Hello Violetrblue,
Welcome to the Forum.
I see you are in Australia so strongly suggest you go to the OZ frame show

In Sydney June 26 - 28th - many very knowledgeable people there + loads of courses and seminars worth attending.
Frank Filippone has a huge selection of books for sale at the show - so you can browse them first.
Also take out a subscription to PROFILE - the OZ framing magazine..
http://www.profilemagazine.com.au - its only A$ 33 per year - worth every $
Tel 03 5975 3677
Good luck with your framing

in addition to pete binghams very good and practical book (which is also a good read) - there is this if you can find one: the Larson Jhul Custom Framers Manual is a really fine start, covering (admittedly from an american slant) not only the practicalities of all sorts "old school" framing, terminology etc, but workshop layouts, shop layouts, marketing, the shop counter, business matters, pricing, etc.
I got one in 1995-ish, and it was a hundred and twenty quid then, but worth every penny, there may be some second hand ones around. Might be worth asking amongst our friends over the pond on the Grumble?
For me this book was my "bible" and i guess thats why we evolved into a strange half-americanised way of doing things for a few years till the internet came along it was all we had to work from.

HI Kev,
I have a copy of Larson Juhl Custom Framing Manual too, a very good reference book.
I’m in the process of trying to source them with the help of Arqadia, as soon as I know if they are still available I will post info on our forum.
