2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

Four. One to hold the bulb, one to hold the ladder, one to turn the house round and one to stand back and take the p*ss.

One to hijack the topic and start talking about ladders.

We've had half a ladder sitting outside the back door for about a year. I stood it up recently but the wind blew it down again. I'm wondering whether to leave it lying down or stand it back up again. If I stand it up it might fall over but if I leave it where it is I'm much more likely to trip over it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know this might not be the best forum to post a query about ladders but the members here are so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful that I'm sure to get the help I need. (I would try posting in the ladders forum but there's so much flaming going on over there that I'd rather avoid it.)

BTW. It's half of an extending ladder (possibly the bottom half) and it's made of aluminium. I don't know the version number but it might originally have come from B&Q - if that makes any difference.

What an absolutley fascinating post Mike. I have had one and a half wooden ladders kicking about for yonks. They didn't look exactly safe, so I never actually dared use them for climbing up things, but I was loathed to sling them. I always think if you keep something long enough you find a use for it. Lo and behold........

Could be worth approaching a major supplier such as Lion to see whether they'd be willing to market the idea.

I'm wondering whether an aluminium ladder would work as well - presumably all the stripping solution has been washed off the mouldings before they're put on the drying wrack so it wouldn't attack the aluminium.

I give them a good hosing while on the rack.

btw. The trestles the ladders are on are all stamped "WTH". Which doesn't mean What The Hell. I think it means "Wragby Town Hall". I don't know who nicked 'em but it weren't me.

7 to analyse the chemistry of the airspace inside the lightbulb.

And then of course, 1 to ....

This lightbulb........ How much harmfull UV would it be emitting? And what about the colour balance?

I hate light bulds too, three in the kitchen light, screw type always blow my missus is always Moaning
"I can't see" So off i Trot to B&Q come back with the new ones, that never make contact, so a little extra turn....Snap

As for the Ladder I think I have the other bit of Welshframers ladder in my garden, wont fit in the shed,
Move From A - B and back always in the way..
But at last a new Moulding rack quick to B&Q buy them up stick on e-Bay MITRERACKS.

No, “Hobo” units are the official units of most Western “smell-o-meters”. They are defined as follows:

0 hobo units – Hardly a whiff of odor.

10 hobo units – The smell of an corpulent, scrofulous individual not having bathed for 30 days (calibration point).

13 hobo units – Robust flatulence from the aforementioned individual having consumed a full 14 oz. can of uncooked Brussels sprouts.

As you can see, some of the BS on this forum is well off the chart.

A “Robo Unit” would refer to a disorganized, random, and totally incomprehensible rambling thought process. We haven’t seen the absolute magnitude of such an event … yet.

A possible need for (out)gas chambers (micro or otherwise)???

One unit of Henry is the equivalent of one kilogram meter squared per second squared per ampere squared (kg ­ m 2 ­ s -2 ­ A -2 ).

A Henry is the SI unit of inductance. Actually it's a Henri, but WTH. I don't know what inductance is anyway.

We have a wooden bench in the garden. Underneath the seat it says "Lewes Police Station". Not sure what that means.
