Fire strikes Scenes (again)

We had a fire at our premises last night causing extensive damage to our shop and workshop.
The fire service says it was caused by an electrical fault, possibly in the credit card machine (which is always left switched on).
I believe that the fire retardant paint that we applied to the walls five years ago prevented the fire from spreading.

More smoke damage than fire damage. It could have been a lot worse.

Lordy!
Sorry to hear about this, John! Thanks for sharing the (perversely fascinating) photos. I hope you are all OK and back up and running again soon.
So I'm off to -
1. check smoke detectors are working
2. check I've had all electrical stuff looked over in the last 12 months
3. Check my insurance direct debit is going out every month.
What else should i be checking right now?

Hi John,
I'm very sorry to hear of your misfortune. I can't even begin to guess how it must be like to have something like this happen. I hope things get sorted without too much delay or hassle.

Hi John,
That's terrible. I'm very sorry this has happened to you.
I've had water damage a few times, but fire is horrendous. I hope your insurance covers you well.

The other week I left my workshop shutter unlocked, I went cold when I saw the padlocks not there next morning, so I can only imagine how you must feel and my thoughts are with you.

That’s awful, John – a framer’s worse nightmare.
I hope that none of your customer’s art got damaged. I can’t imagine straightening that headache out. I also hope that your insurance will cover most of it so that you can get back up and running quickly.
Good luck,
Bill

Just got back to Wales and read the news. So sorry.
Great to hear that you're able to take a positive attitude, though. Some might be tempted to give up when confronted by a site like that.
Good luck with a speedy recovery.

Very sorry to hear about the fire John and hope you're back on your feet before too long!
I wish I'd had a few photos like these during my previous incarnation as a commercial insurance broker for those clients who would smugly look around their premises and declare "There's nothing much in here that would burn anyway"!!
