Name Stickers on the back of frames ?

I've spent the last month or so faffing about with my new Logo for business cards etc., probably 28 days too long but it seemed to be the most important thing in the world to me :sweating:

I need to get some stickers with my natty new logo on to put on the back of the frame, size approximately 2 in x 1.5 in, colour black and red on white. I have done a quick search of the web but would rather go with a recommendation from the Forum.

Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Thanks Jared, I looked at Vista last week , they are pretty good but I couldn't see a category for this sort of adhesive label

we've had all sorts of labels regularly over the years from ABC Labels and have been very pleased with the all round speed, service and pricing. they are also nice people to do business with. http://www.abclabels.co.uk/ not sure whether they do multicolour or not, but worth an ask.

Im pretty impressed with the online design facility of the link prospero posted, though. That looks good.

I got mine from Daymark. Very traditional looking satin gold on matt black. Some day I want to get some black gummed paper tape and a cheap deal on black mountboard to go behind the normal backing board. I think all that together with brass plated D rings and brass wire would look very classy.

NYAF, You could market yourself at the fetish scene

In fact why not go the whole hog and back your frames with

suedette mountboard

Black leather

black latex!

I like a lighter look myself - all my frames are backed with chamois. The upside is that it regulates the moisture level in the back of the frame. The downside is that is outgasses something terrible.

Until it all ends up in a heap on the floor because the brass wire corroded :Slap:

Hi John,

I'm not on the coast and the thinest wire I use is No: 3 and I have two sizes thicker too!. I think I'm safe on that one!

Well - wouldn't know about dat sor!

Only ever used coated stainless steel - near the coast or not, brass corrodes - last time I checked it out in the Lion catalogue - the coated brass wire - it said that the coating could crack and corrosion could happen - thought 'So - won't be buying THAT then' I'd rather use cord than brass.

But OK - thick stuff may take (more) time but if it's a look you are after, well, it won't last long as it will definitely tarnish, and I've seen quite a lot of brass wire that has become un-stranded as well as gone green - looks like carp. Stainless steel is, well .... stainless!

I just did a reglazing on a picture with brassed wire on the back. Delivered it back to the lady and noticed strands of wire on the screws sticking out of the wall which were covered in emulsion paint. My guess is they put it back up before the paint dried and the moisture in the emulsion corroded the wire hence it fell off the wall.

Pete Bingham wrote a piece on this in his "Pure Agony" column in the last issue of Picture Business.

John.

I agree with Robo! Plastic coated stainless is very good.

Don't like brass wire, no matter how thick it is, because it looks nasty with corrosion even in dry climates after a time. It also work hardens, but that would take a long time to affect it!

I need to get some stickers printed, but Vistaprint don't seem to do the size I want. Have bought a number of things from them. The last was business cards. Designed them myself and uploaded the design. Ordered them on a monday and they arrive from Rotterdam on thursday! Inexpensive too!

I bang out my cards on my colour laser on normal paper, laminate them, cut them (well actually I get the wife to do the last two stages :D ). Probably not the cheapest option, but it does for me.

I print my own price labels. :P I made a little WordArt layout and c/p'ed it to fill one page and printed it out on thickish cream paper. :)

Ever since we've had a digital colour photocopier we've been reproducing our own business cards, but we also produce them on A3 paper as labels - I forget how many per sheet; when I want more it's all saved in the copier's memory. The image is a photo of the shop with our details superimposed bottom right.

Don't use them on 'nothing' jobs though - they get a stamp.

Corrosion, discolouration and work hardening, all take a very long time to happen. However a lot of very up-market picture framers who do hand finished frames still use brass wire because it looks classy. Most these days are using much thicker brass wire than used to be normal, just to be safe.

A big selling point with my business is the classy, traditional approach. My "run of the mill" jobs are all strung with cord, but a lot of my high value jobs are done with brass wire, because the customer wants it. While I recognise the points made about this, stainless steel wire doesn't look as classy.

If one of our suppliers would care to offer a nice chunky looking stainless steel plastic covered wire with suitable colouring in the plastic covering to look like gold, then I'll switch over to that instead.

I used brass wire until recently. Until I joined this forum in fact. See, I do take notice sometimes. :P Now I use SuperSoftStrand. Never suffered from 'Framers Finger' since and never get black hands. Never had either type of wire break, but I have seen various old frames where there are distint corrosion points on brass wire. I think this mainly occurs when a picture is hung on a single steel nail rather than a nice picture hook. :( The stress point is narrower with a nail and the bare steel in the nail reacts with the wire over time.

A fair amount of my jobs now go out with walbuddies but I think Nickel plated D rings and supersoftstrand wire looks just as good as brass D rings and brass wire - in fact I think it looks better because of the neat way you can coil Super softstrand.

Don't like ferrules and I don't own any cord.
