Hi Comfyjumper.
Are you talking about the stuff that you wrap right around the bevel? These are usually used as an undermount. You can wrap a ready cut mount - the tricky part is getting neat corners as you have to mitre the flat top part at 45deg, but cut the part that goes on the bevel at a larger angle so you don't get a gap. An easier way is to bevel strips of board and attach them seperately, with the end beveled across so they all fit together. Hard to explain in words.......
If you mean just running a thin tape along the bevel, it can be done. It's quite an old technique. Although it's easier to mask the bevel with Scotch 811 tape and paint it.

These are using premade strips. You can make your own.

Watch the video above and then get hold of some bevelled foam board (Lion or Wessex) and give it a go. Colourmount do tapes to match their mount board but in a limited range of colours. Crescent do a bigger range but only useful if you use their mount board.
I use the colourmount ones but split the tape in half as this makes it go further and I often split the foam strips in half for the same reason. You can always make up the rest of the space with any other foamboard offcuts you have lying around. Again for economy just apply the tape to the lengths you need not the whole 40" section or you will end up with loads of scrap you have unecessarily put tape on.
Black and white photos look really good with a bright white mount and a black bevel. Remember you will need a deep rebate frame to accomodate the thickness of the foam board. Display some examples to help you sell it.
John.

Bainbridge Bevelled Accents look like they are made from Artcare foamboard, so it's pretty easy to make your own bevelled boards from that.
The surface paper on Artcare matboard can be peeled off to make your own matching bevelled boards. It's not easy, but can be done!
