Is an edition of 1000 prints really a limited edition?
To quote the Fine Art Trade Guild:
"The Fine Art Trade Guild print standard sets a maximum edition size and recommends edition sizes of no more than 850"

Yes these do qualify as LE's as they have been selling internationally. The USA, Australia and Europe don't have a problem with a higher number than 850. I know it is a convention set by the FAT and I will (and have) be adhering to lower numbers in the future. They are all signed and numbered and the originals are up for grabs too. Hope this explains why these are numbered the way they are. Thanks for the question.

As most of my work over the years has gone to the US this is why my editions have been larger than the FATG quote and compared to the cost of the one listed here eminently more affordable.

Under the FATG logo, many big name publishers will have an edition of X hundred (UK) plus an edition of X hundred (International) plus another 10% of that total as 'artist's proofs' which serve no purpose at all other than to boost the edition - many times the total number exceeds 850.
Let's also not forget how they changed their rules to suit the big names that keep them in business - it's now OK to make cards, calendars, mugs, X Stitch kits etc, from the same image.
