Not framed yet but too cool to keep until then.

A 22" cymbal plus sticks signed by Ian Paice.

I tried formed rods covered with shrink tubing but it took so many it looked pretty naff plus it still rattled a bit.

So I cut a hole in 4.4mm rag board (foam board wasn't rigid enough) that the cymbal had to be squeeezed in to, then I cut a slightly smaller circle from 8 ply black/black core board (that board is also what backs the rag board circle) to fit over the top. The two circles are stuck together and simply clamp the thing in place.

But to add some support I added a dome of polystyrene under the dome of the cymbal, sliced off a ball of the stuff (we sell them) and stuck it to the black backing, made a hole in it so's you see the backing and not the polystyrene.

Sticks mounted with mylar straps - shown before fastening.

Thanks - and hope so! He's a drummer himself and Ian Paice told him he was bonkers when he said he was getting it framed - he was supposed to play it!

Tell you something else too - the guy said he could provide a bolt, some circles of 'cymbal felt' and a wing nut - but I talked him out of it - thought it would look naff, plus need an even deeper box.

Wish I'd gone for it - would have saved me some time - still - I'll know for the next one, I mean, I've had one of these every 17 years so far!

Then you could have attached a lever to the stick and fed that out through the side of the frame so he could have played the cymbal inside the frame.
