yesterday had an update for java to 6.21 - now java will not work on explorer8 but will work on opera! anyone else had this problem or even better how to solve it . I have tried everything i have found on the internet including removing old and reinstall - i then went back to v6.20 but cannot get it to work - java is installed or it would not work on opera but in explorer java is not even listed in tools - internet options - advanced
any help anyone?

I never update anything unless I am forced. That includes windoze updates. If it ain't broke, don't mend it. All PC's are different from the moment you start installing stuff and what is intended as an improvement can have unforseen consequences to other software. I can't run IE7 or higher because it stop another program I use a lot from starting up. Had to do a System Restore to get back to IE6.

There is a page on the java site to check if you have the proper version installed
http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
Then
Google 'Javara' it removes all ol versions of java.

hi thanks brian - did try that - all ok i think also did a clean install but no luck - still ok on opera but not explorer!!! thanks anyway for the link. Prospero - yes yes yes - agree - i should know better really - i been in the computer bus since 1966!!!!! and if it aint broke etc etc . smack botty for me! this was an auto update - ive turned all auto U/D's off now.
