Well I am rather proud of myself. I got one of these car phone warehouse people to hang up on me.
She wanted to speak to the person who dealth with the telephone bill, when I asked who was calling she wasn't too keen to give her name, but did, I then asked why she was calling, to which she answered - 'you're phone is about to be disconnected, just get who deals with the bills' I then said OOOOh , the phone went dead.
Many of you may have heard on the news this morning of J.S.Phillips and their share and fund scams. They are just one of many that are targeting businesses and individuals via information in the public domain, both here and in the USA.
We have periodically had these by letter and more often by phone. They are extremely persistent and very plausible. We have had most phone approaches from the US; very hard sell. The only remedy is to cut them off and contact the FSA.
The other pain is the telecoms sellers; very distant voices from the sub-continent. Always know the billpayers name. Same treatment.
Our phones in the gallery and at home are covered by the telephone preference service TPS. Cuts out a lot of c**p. Well worth registering, but dosn't eliminate all.
