Help needed squaring up a Keencut Laser mountcutter

Hi,
Can anyone help? I have a Keencut Laser mountcutter but I am having problems squaring it up. I got some info from some members on how to callibrate it and even a pdf manual on the latest Keencut mountcutter but this is different to mine (obviously)!
I can get it more or less square when I cut mountboard, it measures top and bottom the right measure - great.
Then I go to use it a couple of days later and it is about 2-3mm out again. How do I overcome this?
Under the main measuring bar there are two hexaganal screws that I adjust with an Allen key - I don't know if this is the right thing to do - but a couple of days later it is out of square again.
As I say I have followed the instruction in the newer manual as best I can but it is different as it doesn't have these hexaganal screws in the same place.
Can anyone help? It's a lovely machine as it takes a full size mount board, but it only needs to be a little bit out and on a full size sheet it can be masses out.
Any help would much appreciated.

Nigel,
I suggest you ask the rep from Herranz - Madrid or Molgra - Terrega.They are the 2 distributors for Keencut in Spain.
Herranz is better as they are very machinery led.

Also I would send e-mail to Keencut and ask them to send pdf of the instruction book for your model.

Nigel,

Are you using your mountcutter to cut the blank mount from the whole board, or using a wall mounted cutter?

I always had problems like this before I bought an excalibur wall mounted "Maxi slasher" (One of Pete Bingham's phrases - love it)

Also have found some suppliers' boards to be not perfectly square to start with. Check with a large 'T' square, you may be adjusting for nothing!

A way to check if you are cutting square (if you are happy that the board is square to start with), cut a long strip, say 2" wide, fold it so the opposite ends meet and see if they are the same.

This probably is not what you think the problem is! You've already squared it up and got good results and without changing anything you say it's all out again.

Something else to check!

First - check the rubber grip strip under the cutter bar, they get worn out or go hard over time and lose their grip so that the mountboard moves as you cut it.

Second - check that your work surface is flat so that the base of the mountcutter cannot twist from one end to the other, this also allows the mountboard to move while being cut.

The odds are one or both of these is the trouble - I'm speaking from experience of similar trouble with my Ultimat, (I had both problems). Eventually, I phoned Keencut who spotted the trouble straightaway and got me sorted!

Mark after reading your reply I checked my mountcutter to see the state of the rubber under the cutter bar as you described.
Er, what rubber? There are grooves cut into the cutter bar which I pressume the rubber goes into, but if that is where it goes then I ain't got any. Good point - I would never have thought of looking for that.
Is this something that Keencut can still supply do you think?
