Commandos were not always just covert - during WW2 they were often 'first in' . Commandos from highland regiments went into battle with pipers playing and wearing kilts - they were known by the enemy as 'the ladies from hell' .

Very nice, what moulding have you used, it doesn't look as if it has a deep rebate?
And, have you ever done any National Rifle Association medals?

Thanks for the info it is much appreciated. I've had a look at your website but can't see any examples of the NRA medals. We have some to do at the moment and I'll post a photo in the next couple of weeks when I get around to doing them.
On a separate note, who is Sarah Jane?

We have four medals to frame and three of them don't have any ribbons because they come in a cheap plastic presentation box. We will probably inset the three of them into the mount and hang the other one at the top. So yes they probably will be a PIA, which is why I get to do them and not my daughter (Sam).

I said I would post the photo of the NRA medals frame. So here it is in all its glory.
NRA Medal fr.jpg
It is red velveteen mb from Arqadia and the loose medals are sandwiched behind it. The same board is lining the rebate. No glue or silicon has been used on the medals. The top medal's ribbon has been fed through the board and sewn at the back. The moulding is Arqadia 408 167 000.
Sorry about the carpet reflection at the bottom but at least I got rid of the lights reflections at the top!

Foam core behind the mount with the medals sunk into it and Back 10 (Simons) as the back. The apertures are reverse bevel. The frame is sealed as they do not require access to the medals.
