USA flag (folded)

Post by countrystudio »

I have been asked to frame a triangle folded USA flag.
Using a box frame but how do I fix the flag in place?
Customer wants the citation framed seperately.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Try here, they're based in the US but there's a list of suppliers on their webpage who should ship to the UK, they seem to be made to measure.

The flags are inserted into the frame without any attachments of any kind. The section for the flag is a size that allows it to be a snug fit.

depends on the value of the flag - if it were an 'off the shelf' flag, i would fix all but the top folded layer to a backing mount board using my tab gun (the one that fires the small H shaped clear tags you get to hold the price tags onto new clothes) and then locate the top layer using thin slithers of double sided tapestry tape. This is a smilar process to framing sports shirts.... (my gun is made by TACHER and uses 8mm H's) The needle is thin, and if you are careful, you can push it between the fibres of the fabric, rather than through them. If you want more info, just email.

Mark.

Well there's a citation with it so maybe not off the shelf? How would you do it if it were of any value - monetary/sentimental/historical/whatever?

Same question re a sports shirt that didn't come cheap.

The beauty of the 'H' fixings are that they are non-destructive if used with skill, and make sure the tapestry adhesive consists of water soluable glue & is spot on with the PH.
