Payment by Standing order/Direct debit

We can pay our gas/electric/phone etc bills by, standing order or direct debit
The above suppliers divide our average annual spend by 12 and set the monthly charge at that amount. There will be adjustments either way - at home we are WELL in credit - at work it's pretty accurate. Those that opt to pay in this way get discounts.
If a major moulding/mountboard/accessory supplier asked me to pay in this way I think I'd bite their hand off!
