Just join the forum today. I run my own photography business and would like some advise on what used framing equipment I would need.I am looking to diversify my customer base so that I can offer new services to customers.

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum.

You are going to need something to cut frames, join them and make mounts. So the minimum you can get away with is a mitre cutter (ninety odd percent of framers use a Morso), an underpinner (Cassese do good foot operated ones) and a mountcutter (Keencut seem to be the most popular).

Cutting glass and backboard you can do on a bench.

You will also need a range of smaller hand tools.

Springfair is coming up at the beginning of February at the NEC and it would be worth going along and meeting some suppliers. The big names there will be Lion Picture Framing Supplies, D & J Simons and Wessex Pictures.

Could be worth considering new equipment and most suppliers will do a start up package at a discount. Framing equipment holds its value reasonably well.

Welcome Richard

Yes, get to the Spring Fair if you can.

You'll find me on stand C103 in Hall 4 if you manage to get there.
