Ideas needed for project

Post by Rschmidt »

I have a large, neat looking window frame with twelve, 10" x 14" panes of glass in it. It's one half of an old double hung grade school window - the kind my old nun teachers used to open from the top using a long wooden pole with a hook at the end. I'd like to fill the panes with family pictures but I'm short on ways to mount them. I don't wish to go through the expense of 2nd pieces of glass to "sandwich" the pictures. I also don't want to simply tape the pics on the glass. The pictures will vary greatly in size and several of the panes will be filled with a collage of pics. I've considered putting the pictures in their own small frames and then just suspending them somehow from the individual panes' horizontal frame but that might be tricky.

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks.

Cool idea. :D

Without seeing the window it's hard to say. You could strip the whole thing down - remove all the glass and clean out all the old putty (if any). You could even strip it back to bare wood and stain/polish it. Or repaint it. You should then have what amounts to a multi-aperture picture frame with rabbets. Just like a normal picture frame. What was the out-facing side of the window would be the back.

That's if it is constructed how I think it is which may not be the case. :?

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks for the encouragement. The project continues. I just hope I finish it before I tip over.
