Hi,
I have just brought a keencut laser and it came with 080 straight blades in both bevel and straight holders. is this right? i have tried to put a bevel blade in the holder but it doesnt fit! do i need to cut my bevels with a straight cut blade and if so does it still produce good bevels?
i would really apprieciate any advice if anyone uses a laser.
thank you
Rachael

With a Keencut Ultimat you cut the bevel with this shape blade:
and do 90 degree cuts with this shape blade:

thanks jonny,
i have previously used an ultimat so familiar with the two types of blades and was expecting the Laser to be the same set up but the 'tech D' doesnt fit the holder for the bevel cut

Re: keencut laser straight blades only?!!
I believe that I am correct in saying that the Keencut Ace, Dart & Laser were all designed to use the 080 blades in both positions. At one time I had a keencut dart and never found using the 080 blades much of a problem, but I was later able to readjust the blade depth screw to suit standard blades, unfortunately the design of the laser is completely different to the Dart, or Ace, so you probably can't do this on the laser.
Be warned that the 080 blades are very much stiffer that most other equivalent blades and although the 080 blades cost more, they are the best ones to use with denser boards such as the white core and conservation boards, if you want to avoid problems with hooking. Lower density boards, like the Colourmount 800 range will cut just fine with the cheaper blades.
The laser is a very old machine now and finding spares won't be easy, so keep the nylon bearings correctly adjusted, so that they wear evenly.
