How to promote this forum

On another thread there was a discussion about ways of promoting this forum. We need more members, and preferably more who are willing to post. And not just UK, there is a big world out there! (The UK is only 4% of the worlds purchasing power) The most frequently asked question I get as I travel the world is "Where can I get info/answers about framing?"
To increase the UK list of members I can suggest of a very quick, easy and effective way. Invole the distributors.
As they send out invoices each day they could easily add a "strap line" to each invoice simply saying "
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"Take a look at www.theframersforum,com to meet other framers. On this site you can ask any framing related questions and expect a helpful reply from fellow framers"
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If all regular posters here send a link to this post to their favourite distributor I'm sure a couple will be prepared to put a "strap line" to their invoices or statements to promote this forum. That way the message goes out to 1000's of framers and hopefully we grow the membership.
Its worth a try.

Getting the distributors to publicise this FORUM

John,
You asked me by e-mail if Slater Harrison would be promoting this Forum to UK framers as per my suggestion. No they will not, because they cant! S.H. only sell through distributors. They do not sell direct to framers.
But I will send an e-mail to all my overseas distributors and ask them to forward to all their framing customers a link to this Forum.
Then hopefully we will have a few more "lurkers" and "posters" from around the world and start to challenge the USA Grumble for its international membership.

All:
In the next edition of the Lion catalogue, No.43, to be published on February 4, we've devoted a large part of p.129 to framing software.
Each software provider has been allocated the same amount of space to describe their products. For obvious reasons, Lion has to remain impartial. We have provided this space at no cost, as we firmly believe that every efficient and profitable framer should have some kind of pricing software installed and working.
I've now seen frame visualisation in use in several places, incuding John Ranes gallery in Appleton, Wis. I'm excited about the possibilities for that.
On the same page, we've also included contact details for The Framers Forum and The Grumble. We know that there'll always be some things on those that we won't agree with, but free speech is vital for all.
On behalf of everyone at Lion, I wish you a very happy and successful New Year.

Hi Martin,
Welcome to the forum.
Many thanks for including in your catalogue a mention of The Framers Forum, bringing it to the attention of many who would not otherwise be aware of our existence, and hopefully encouraging lurkers to participate.
I am glad to see that you have not been too put off by the 'whinger' label that seems to have attached itself to the forum by some who have not really examined the evidence, I think. Certainly the forum is a great place to have a moan, but there is a huge amount of positive stuff here, and with more active members it can only get better.
By joining with us here we feel that you are now part of our online community and I'm sure that we all look forward to any contribution you can make, specially with regard to the bigger issues, such as those dealing with the status and profitability of our trade.

its good to see some of the big players like Lion and Trucut, Gunnar, Framers Corner, Slater Harrison etc participating in the forum. it cant hurt at all in giving them an insight into the way we shopkeepers at the pointy end of the job work, buy product, and how we use their products.
I just had a horrible thought- if there is a framing Reps forum, what are they saying about us

We're the tops!
Just did a search on Google.
-The framers forum-
-Framers forum-
-Picture framers forum-
All return the same website in the coveted number one spot.
There can be no excuses now, anyone looking for us must surely find us.
Of course, the way Google dances, the top position could be held by any of the other sites, and probably will at one time or another, but the chances are that we will always be somewhere in the first page.
