Got to frame 2 original paintings... acrylic on mountboard... and they are so wavy. A good 3" curl and i'm having a nightmare getting them to lay flat without gapping around the cutout.
Using 2.5mm mdf as a backing and still NBG! Also tried 2 layers of backing ..
Help appreciated.

Sounds like they have been painted on a totally inappropriate surface.
When will artists learn there is nothing to be gained by trying to save a few bob.

It's gapping about 4mm all round so short of backing it with 6mm mdf I'm not sure what else to do.

Re: Need advice on flattening for framing
If it won't flatten, can the wavy nature of the board be made into a feature - float mounted with an inner frame around / or sink mounted?
Re: Need advice on flattening for framing
I've seen them curl round so much they are cylindrical.
One way is to paint a similar thickness of the same paint on the back and leave it for a few days.
It does work, but not something I would do without permission from the artist.
(better still, tell the artist to do it. If they are still at large)

Sorted... found a scrap sheet of 4000mic board. Held it flat to glass and no bulging.

That's terrible. I agree with Gus.
