Are there times for the Monday seminars or do they repeat through the day?

I have a PDF with both sides of the MLC Invitation card on one sheet of A4. If someonne can tell me how to post it here, I gladly will do. That has even more detailed info. The Invitation cards will be circulated by exhibitors shortly.

Hi Martin, when you post a reply or start a new thread you should see "Options" and " Upload an attachment" if you scroll down. They should appear underneath the submit button. Select the upload attachment tab and then the choose file button. You should then be able to find the document on your PC, add the file and then submit. Hopefully Robert will then become a relation or "Bob's your Uncle". :-)

One can never stop learning. Thanks for the guide - I'm not quite sure what I did, but it worked!

Thank you Martin. I did ask the FATG the question via email a few weeks back but had no response.

Anyway, now I know and will be there on the Monday. Sunday clashes with a local event we are sponsoring so can't make it.

Two people I have spoken to this morning have said they didn't think they could go to to MLC because they were not FATG members.

So let me confirm again. Everyone is welcome. The trade show on Sunday afternoon, and all day Monday (see http://www.fineart.co.uk/Awards_Meet_Le ... brate.aspx for the details) is totally free to attend. The Seminars on Monday are also free.

If you want to go to the awards dinner, you have to pay. see http://www.fineart.co.uk/Article/Detail ... 65613C4382

And if you want to attend one of the 2 hour workshops on Sunday, then you also have to pay, although, a heavily susidised rate of £10 for members, and £20 for non-members
http://www.fineart.co.uk/Article/Detail ... 567D5ED193

I will be running a 2 hour MASTERCLASS entitled "10 Ways to Make Your Framing Business More Profitable" Places are limited, so book here to be sure http://www.fineart.co.uk/DynamicEnquiry ... _form.aspx

I’m down to do the mount cutting master class on Sunday, about half the places have gone so there are places left. I thought you might like to know what I’m planning. At the end of the class you should have produced a mount looking something like this:
IMG_7257A low res.jpg
This incorporates a number of mount cutting techniques including:
Double Mount
V Groove
Double Offset Corners
Reverse Bevel
Coloured Banner Insert
Outer Mount
Coloured Inlays
Raised Textbox

It’s £20 for non FATG members and £10 for members including materials,
so if you are interested please use the links above for more info or to book.

David.

I went on Sunday, did 2 of the sessions -jim's and David's, both excellent and well worth the money. Spent some time talking to Framiac and got a follow up call yesterday which was very helpful.

Some interesting competition pieces. (Awards are listed on the FATG site)

Oh yes, had a chat with robo too - nice to see you back (book me a place on your Mylar session in sept)!

I was there Sunday and Monday.

For the FATG and the exhibitors this was not a cheap exercise and I was very disappointed with the number of No Shows (Once Again) .

It will be interesting to see/hear what the number of actual visitors was on the Trade Floor (not counting the awards dinner people), as some of the exhibitors questioned whether it will be worth attending next year.

In reply to John's question about visitor numbers at Meet. Learn. Celebrate, they were, frankly, below expectations. There were app 25% more businesses visiting than came to the first event last year, which is somewhat encouraging.

The attendance level is a puzzle for all concerned, as all the exhibitors put on a great show, and a wide range of training and support at various levels was on offer and quite well attended.

A problem we all face is a general lack of innovation in the industry, so there is currently not too much which is new or exciting to see at any show. CMC's have become widely accepted and used, so apart from the steady development of the software and technical details, there is not even too much new there. If that is compared with the imaging trade, there are new cameras and other hi-tech products being introduced continually, so people in that trade simply have to visit shows and events to keep up with the changes.

In the 'good old days' of the Spring Fair, Hall 3 sometimes had 300+ exhibitors, of which 200+ were art publishers. That side of our industry has changed dramatically. However, having recently been in France and popped into a branch of an art and framing retail chain, http://www.Cadrea.fr, I wonder whether there is a bigger market for middle and lower end art than some realise. (I pose that comment cautiously, as I know almost nothing about art retailing). Certainly, art publishers will be encouraged to exhibit at MLC 2013, with some quite innovative ideas already being discussed.

Given the lack of regular innovation and the fact that it is probably unreasonable to expect most framers and gallery owners to travel more than 100 miles to a trade event, one idea is to alternate MLC between north and south. How would fellow FF members react to the idea of the weekend event being staged in the Yorkshire area in May 2013?
