Canvas

Gentlemen,
I appreciate that I'm not a framer ~ or at least not in the sense that I make a living from the practice.
And I also appreciate that I keep on asking if i can pick your brains ~ but sometimes I do require some help.
Please do say so, if you find this at all unacceptable.
I have not yet done anything at all with canvas.
I have however, bought some artists canvas and some timber for stretcher bars (those, and wedges, I can easily make, to any size)
I have also bought two large(ish) (30" x 20") prints (Grimshaw & Wontner)
With each of these I intent to practice stretching canvas over bars (I've read a lot and viewed some youtube)
The aim is to finish up with the Grimshaw & Wontner of a sufficiently acceptable standard to be able to hang them at home, without too much ridicule from family, friends(?) & neighbours.
The info I've yet to come across, in any conclusive form, is: -
1. Are there any particular framing sections which are designed specifically for use around a stretched canvas package?
2. Or do you just select a appropriate profile, with a rebate sufficient to accommodate the package?
3. Is it acceptable to provide a window mount (single or double) to keep the canvas from the glass, or is the norm, and good practice, to always use a slip?
TIA
Jack
