Just back from Sweden where I went into a bank and asked them to change a 500 kronor ( GBP 50.00 ) note their machine had just given me into smaller amouts.
" We dont have any cash here !"
I learnt that Swedbank is now no longer handling any cash at some branches.
Need cash ? - use the hole in the wall cash dispenser
Have cash to deposit ? - use the other hole in the wall.
Is this the future ?
I read an Irish bank has also started going cashless.

Re: A bank with no money!
I bank with Santander and enjoy the convenience of using the local post office to make deposits etc. Recently I needed some five pound notes for change to give customers from the till but apparently they only get one delivery a week and when they are all gone they have to wait until the next delivery.
How long until the arrival of the £5 coin I wonder?

What you don't know Steve, is that all your money is stored in a shoebox under the counter with you name on it written with a Sharpie pen.
Actually, that's not as daft as it sounds. I saw a doco about Fort Knox where all the US gold reserves are stored. But lots of countries also keep gold there apparently. All stacked in bullion form in little partitions resembling jail cells. And when two countries do a deal, they basically ring Fort Knox and a guy with a pallet truck opens up one country's cell, stacks the required amount of gold bars on it and wheels it into the other county's cell and locks up again.
