Cutting small diameter circles in mountboard

Hi,

Can anyone let me know what I can use to cut circles in mount board, where the diameter is either 3 or 4 centimetres. I have tried the silver line cutter, but this does not cut cleanly. The Logan circle / oval cutter doesn't cut this small.

Thanks in advance.

I can't recommend a cutter but I would be happy to cut them for you and post out, although I'm sure there will be someone closer to you with a cmc. Tawny craft do a custom mount cutting service too.

Hi Kathy

We are nearer and offer an online service for mounts if that's a help. A 3cm cut is definitely one for a CMC

Is it a mount with a bevel you are trying to cut or do you just need a circle cutting to drop a circular object in you are framing?

If it is the latter then there is a small cheap device the name of which escapes me but I have one in the workshop and can look tomorrow if interested.

Like the above we also do mounts on our CMC we can post out to you or you can collect if you are near.

Hi,

I just need a circle to use as an opening to hold items.

We sell a couple of different compass cutters on our craft side (which left me behind years ago) - no idea if any of them are up to cutting mountboard, but I'd guess so. Google "Compass Cutters"

"Olfa" compass cutter was the thing I was trying to think of last night.

You can buy cheaply on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=o ... o_id=32021

Or you local craft store might have them.

They really are fantastic, incredibly useful. I used to sell Olfa back in the 80s. I once cut a replacement shutter speed camera dial from thin brass with one and laminated the photograph from the instruction book to replace the missing original. One bit of kit that soon pays for itself, you will wonder how you ever managed without one! Any thing Olfa ,with the exception of that diamond shape blade mount cutter, see Lion catalogue entry, is brilliant.
